Church Radio allows shut-ins to listen to their local church service while it is taking place from home or any other location.

This is done with a Webradio, a device that is connected to the Internet, but does not require the use of a PC!

Great care has been taken to ensure that the Webradio is easy to use by the shut-ins who are normally elderly and sick. The Webradio has an on-off switch, a volume knob and 2 buttons to select a different church service or other station.

The basic system consists of a streaming PC in the church, a central streaming platform with a database and play list management and the Webradio at the home of the listener.

This application is a great success in the Netherlands. No computer, PC skills or special installation is necessary.

ChurchWebRadio is the Intranet solution for the church!

This entirely new concept is the much needed answer to a certain section of a church community.  We are refering to those members of a congregation, who due to old age or ill health or for any other reason are unable to attend regular church services on Sundays or other services throughout the week and who in actual fact would really like to do so!

For these shut-ins the ChurchWebRadio can now come to the rescue! You are probably asking yourself how? Well, every home and every church already have a telephone connection and a power supply. So the basic infrastructure is already present. Other tools required to make the system work are: at home a ChurchWebRadio, in church a transmitter (which can be a PC) and a server platform for the transmission of signals. And of course, someone has to set this all up. The WebRadio is a solution based on Internet technology and works like an Intranet. The technology for the WebRadio has been researched and developed by Solutions Radio resulting in a perfect solution adapted to transmit a church service from any place to any place. The beauty of it is that you neither need to be PC literate nor do you need to be in the possession of a PC. The peripheral equipment has been optimalized in such a way that operation by non-technical people is very simple. The result is a system that can be operated comfortably by the listener at home, as well as the caretaker in the church.

Functions:

·         The church service can be listened to at home or at any other
          location    (e.g.hospital)

·         It is possible to listen to a service at a later stage than when it is taking
          place

·         It is even possible to listen to the service of an entirely different church
          denomination

Operation:

Very simple: only switch ON the unit while a church service is taking place
and the church service which you would normally attend, is on-air
It has freely programmable pre-selects (i.e. different congregations or
different denominations can be programmed for the individual if so           required)

It can be operated while sitting in your favourite chair with the included
          remote control

The display on the unit indicates to which church one is connected

Connections:

Simple connection to regular telephone network via built-in modem

Connection to an external speaker or hifi system is available

Connection to ADSL or cable modem via integrated Ethernet interface

Connection to a LAN for the communal church line systems in old age
           homes, hospitals or nursing homes

           Optional connection to WiFi/LAN (wireless)

Advantages for the listener:

          Very easy installation

          A PC is not required

use of the Intranet is made without a PC

it has excellent sound quality, but to enhance this it can also be connected

          to hifi system

the own church service can be listened to from an arbitrary place

Simple to use – only press ON/OFF button

          Can be deployed immediately

No other facilities than a power outlet and a telephone socket are required

So flexible that services besides those on Sunday can be listened to

The radio automatically switches off, if you pick up the phone to make a call

If the optional call waiting function has been implemented, the

ChurchWebRadio switches off  at an incoming call

Advantages for the church:

Radios can be placed with all the shut ins of the church

Radios can also be placed with those who are temporarily sick or disabled

All services, not only the ones on Sunday, can now be attended “virtually”

Members remain “connected” and involved with their congregation

Members remain in touch with their old congregation even if they move

Members can remain in touch with their home congregation while           convalescing or even on holiday

Can be used everywhere where there is a telephone connection, even outside municipal borders
Those interested in listening to services from outside the state or country can do so
Additional services such as spoken books and newspapers are also possible

Technology:

          MP3 streaming technology

          Built-in power supply

          Built-in speaker

          Easy plug and play radio

          Remote software update

          Remote configuration

          Remote management

Altering pre-selects via management system is possible

Several connections: analogue (modem) and Ethernet  (ADSL/LAN/WiFi)

Each radio has a unique ID number that is recognised by the   streaming platform

It is flexible and future proof and also prepared for a wireless (WiFi)solution

In short, making use of modern technology, but without having to have extensive knowledge of it, churches can nowadays offer a service to those members of the congregation who are no longer physically able to attend the church service. Only install a ChurchWebRadio in the home of such a member so that they can listen to all services and thus remain involved and connected to their home church.
